Angklung: A Celestial Resonance
The angklung is an Indonesian musical instrument found in records since 1704. It consists of two to four tuned bamboo tubes tied in a rectangular, partitioned frame made of white bamboo, which is tightly bound with rattan cord. The angklung is traditionally played on important events and ceremonies during periods of rice planting, harvest, and circumcision. Angklung culture was transmitted through non-formal education within each family, but has since been incorporated into the formal education curriculum. The shape of the angklung has both symbolic and philosophical values: the tubes of varying sizes symbolize the duty of the strong and powerful to protect the weak and vulnerable.

Saman Dance: A Thousand-Hand Dance
Saman is a traditional dance of the Gayo people, which can be traced back to the fourteenth century. The dance is performed in a religious space called mersah with an odd number of male dancers sitting in neat lines who dance to verses and fall into a trance-like state as the tempo quickens.\n\nThis dance, which incorporates thousands of hands, shows the Gayo tribe's sense of solidarity and ancestral wisdom toward life. Saman has maintained its value as a source of vitality for the community in accepting innovation and change with flexibility, while simultaneously preserving the identify of the Gayo.

That morning, Bangkit Sholahudin or known as Bangkit was opening a collection of several keris belonging to the previous hamlet’s leader. Every leadership period, the Head of Sawit Hamlet across generations always has a “tosan aji” as a form of representation of the depiction of every situation and condition. Considering that the keris has become a familiar object with the lives of Sawit residents, Bangkit as the current Head of Sawit hamlet tried to initiate the maintenance and preservation of the keris which has been on hiatus for a long time. Towards the afternoon, Bangkit Sholahudin met Mbah Jaman, one of the residents who had a keris but was not properly cared for. Finding these problems, Bangkit Sholahudin invited several residents to initiate a procession of “jamasan” within the scope of Sawit Hamlet in cooperation with the non-governmental organizations.

Mughni (26), a recent graduate, is anxious about his future and feels trapped in endless worries. To calm his mind and soul, which are full of anxiety after completing his final assignment, he initially chooses to practice yoga independently. However, not satisfied with that, in mid-July 2024, Mughni participated in a Meditation program at Vippasana Dharma Java in Bogor, West Java. Although the program is scheduled for ten days, he managed to complete only five days. After returning to Yogyakarta, he continues searching for answers and meets Pak Udrek, a puppeteer and Javanese cultural practitioner who introduces him to Tapa Brata—a traditional Javanese meditation practice. Through wayang characters' stories, depicting the characters' struggles and meditations, Mughni begins to find the inner peace he had lost and learns the deep meaning of true tranquility offered by Javanese wisdom.

Wiwitan
Wiwitan, a traditional ritual that is closely associated with Javanese culture, especially the farming community. This ritual uses the media of various foods as a symbol of hope to welcome the harvest period. It seems simple, but in fact the condition will have meaning. This truntum pattern was created during the reign of Pakubuwana III. At that time, Kanjeng Ratu Beruk who was the consort of Pakubawana III could not give the crown prince. Then he was asked the name or motive of the pattern. But answered by Kanjeng Ratu Beruk "no idea" what it's called, he made batik just to forget his sadness and ask for guidance from God Almighty.The arrival of Pakubuwana III apparently continued with subsequent arrivals. When the batik is finished, Pakubuwana III is also touched by the perseverance and the spirit of Kanjeng Ratu Beruk to finish the cloth, So Pakubuwana III was asked Kanjeng Ratu Beruk to return to the palace. After giving thanks to God Almighty, Kanjeng Ratu Beruk returned to the palace and she named the Truntum, which means he reunited with Sunan Pakubuwanan III. It means reverberated Sunan's love for her and she hoped, it would be the last forever. Therefore, until now at the Javanese traditional wedding ceremony in Surakarta style, the Truntum pattern is always worn by the bride and bridegroom.

Batik Design: An Aesthetic That Reflects Life
Batik is a type of traditional Indonesian handcrafted textile that emerged in the Java region in the early nineteenth century and became widespread across Indonesia in the mid 1980s. Batik is made by applying dots and lines of hot wax to cloth using a copper pen or stamp and then placing the cloth in a dye bath.\n\nThe earliest reference to batik is found in the text of Siksa Kanda in ad 1517. Batik patterns are inspired by social status, local community, nature, history, and cultural heritage. Batik is an art form that promotes cultural diversity, cultural industries, and human creativity through its symbolic and cultural values.
