LODEN FOUNDATION
The Loden Foundation is a pioneer organization in Bhutan bridging cultural heritage with socio-economic development. Loden literally means ‘the intelligent one’ and is an epithet of the Bodhisattvas, who work for the world using wisdom and compassion. Loden first started as a modest child sponsorship scheme in 1999 to help poor students go to school. Since then, it grew incrementally to become a leading NGO in Bhutan. Led by a group of people with shared visions, concerns and interests, Loden has three programs supported by a wide network of donors, volunteers, management team and partners.

Island Ark Project Foundation
Founded in 2015, the Island Ark Project seeks to safeguard intangible cultural heritage (ICH)nimperiled by modernization and migration by promoting the use of digital technologies in thenPacific island states. Our primary strategy to combating threats to ICH is to train local stakeholdersnin the adoption, creation, and modification of websites and online databases to store and share ICHnrecords with people overseas. Our team members are from the U.S., Germany, and Palau.

Dwaraka
Dwarka was born to fulfill these dreams and aspirations. Dwaraknath Reddy gave the rural Kalamkari artisans his assurance that the Ramanarpanam Trust would support a socio-economic empowerment program for them—a program in which the entire village could learn to develop a market to provide sustainable support for the rest of their lives. In the five years since its inception, hundreds of artists and weavers have been impacted by the support of DWARAKA—just one of many Ramanarpanam Trust initiatives. The support, in the last few years alone, runs into over Rs 4.5 to 5 million. While mobilizing the artists’ community was the most critical aspect of the empowerment process, there were many other challenges that the DWARAKA team encountered and sought to creatively overcome. The team realized the need to focus on the development of efficient systems and infrastructure in the village, support emergency medical needs and rebuild shelters, explore the infinite range of possibilities for new kalamkari products, and help establish proper marketing channels for these new products.
