Man and Mud
Pottery is one of the oldest human inventions, originating before the Neolithic period. Now the life of this craft is very pathetic. In this era, as the people are behind new technologies, money, building up social status etc. This great art will be no longer available after 10 to 20 year. My photo documentary is a look out to the world of pottery. I had done this from a pottery making society at Keezhmad, a small village in Kerala, India. This may help us to get an idea about the pottery making.

Baby's Facial Hair Removal_1
I come from a small village called Danyore. It lies across the river Gilgit in the outskirts of the regional Capital of Gilgit-Baltistan. My forefathers migrated to Danyor from Ali Abad Hunza and we are ethnically known as Burusho of Hunza. I feel very happy to share some aspects of our intangible heritage through photos I took on different occasions. I do not have all the photos with me as I live in Islamabad these days because I work at Lok Virsa, which works towards preservation, documentation and promotion of both tangible and intangible heritage of Pakistan. Here i am sharing few photos taken at facial hair removal practice. Its a common practice exercised by Burusho living throughout Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. Babies facial hair are removed with wheat dough and a mixture of rock powder and mothers milk is applied later which is also cleaned for glowing skin with mother milk. It is believed that it reduces facial hair and makes skin glow when babies grow up. Rock stone that crushed into powder is locally known as 'MURDA SUN' I couldnt find english name of the stone. It can be easily crushed or turned into power when rubbed on surface of a stone. For babies facial mask it is mixed with mothers breast milk and applied on babies face.

The Lost Craft of Sakha
Sakha, conch bangle, has religious significance in the everyday life of the Hindus. According to Hindu mythology, sacred conch symbolizes the purity and chastity of women, and loyalty to their husbands. Godess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva, had worn the very first pair of conch bangles, crafted by Viswakarma. Thereafter, Sakha have become the emblem of married Bangali Hindu woman. A pair of conch bangles is an essential adornment for all married woman as it brings fame and prosperity to one’s husband in everyday life. This age-old intangible cultural heritage of Bangladesh is on the verge of extinction today because of multifarious reasons relating to the life and livelihoods of the Sakha craftsmen. This visual narrative explores their struggle of everyday life and challenges they are facing under rapidly transforming social realities of Bangladesh. The Sakha is a handcrafted work of art having a rich history and heritage since unknown time. This beautiful and delicate artwork is done by the Sakhaartisans, the Sakharis. The Sakharis came to Dhaka during the 17th century, while the Mughals, impressed by their craftsmanship, allotted an entire area to these artisans now known as Sakhari Bazar, a neighbourhood in Old Dhaka city.

Festive Day on Sapwuahfik Atoll, Micronesia
This video was taken as part of NGO Pasifika Renaissance’s efforts to document oral heritage of Sapwuahfik Atoll. It depicts a festive day on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, which was celebrated in a traditional manner, by welcoming those visiting Sapwuahfik islanders from the main island of Pohnpei. It includes footage of preparation of food and dance attire, ceremonial procession of a gift float and accompanying chant, and traditional dance on that day as well as recording of a historical song composed to commemorate WWII and a traditional sailing canoe.
