Social and cultural significance The Nomad games have a great impact on the social and cultural life of the people. The key ingredients for its success have been a creation of a broad platform that strengthened connection between the practitioner communities across the country, a wide media coverage and fostering of partnership between the practitioners, knowledge holder and the local and national governments. Number of traditional game practitioners rose: For example, since 2007 the number of formal and informal traditional game clubs increased tenfold. Traditional games have been included into the physical education curriculum of kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools as well as universities and vocational schools.
Transmission method Since ancient times, the Kyrgyz people have paid great attention to traditional games, no folk festival could do without them. Traditional games remain the most beloved and revered. The first festival at the provincial level such Nomad Games festival took place in the Ysyk-Köl province in 2008, which has been followed by similar festivals in six other provinces of the Kyrgyz Republic. Practitioners of traditional games and knowledge holders have opened new informal clubs in their communities, while existing clubs have experienced a massive influx of newcomers. Since 2012, Nomad Games festivals have begun to attract the attention of traditional artisans and craftswomen, as well as artists and performers. Reciters of traditional epics, singers and musicians, dancers and artists took part in the organization of these nomad Games festivals. They set up their kiosks and pavilions to demonstrate their performances, conduct master classes and sell their crafts. Thus, these festivals of traditional nomad games have turned from events dedicated to traditional games into a platform for the revival and promotion of intangible cultural heritage in general and for celebrating its diversity. The traditional game federations and the local craftsperson communities cooperate with interested parties in the dissemination of the Nomad Games experience. The federations are share their experience, methodologies, and tools of the community-driven documentation process, ethics of the participatory research, and tips on building partnerships with the universities and governmental bodies.
