Description Olan is one of the well-preserved types of folk song art in Uzbekistan. The beauty of them lies in the possibilities of improvisation, the simplicity of rhythms, and paying special attention to the text when performing. Aytys available to the brotherly Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples has a connection with our Olan. Olans are executed without instrumenttal tracking. Olans are alternate singing and the exchange of lines between a guy and a girl. Replicas can also be exchanged between performer groups. Various topics are used, mainly love.
Social and cultural significance Olans help educate performers with a good aesthetic taste, cherish friendship, a show of devotion and other qualities. Festivals and competitions are held to promote this genre. This type of art is distributed mainly in the Ferghana Valley, Samarkand, Jizzak and Tashkent regions. Interest groups work in cultural centres in the field and make efforts to preserve and develop olancis. In educational institutions of the musical profile, some work is also carried out to popularize the genre. Its importance in the cultural improvement of young people is obvious. Currently, appropriate actions have been taken towards the preservation and development of this genre. It should be noted a number of decisions adopted recently in the field of folk art. In the centers of culture there are song circles, in music schools knowledge is also given on this element, various festivals and competitions are held, including at the state level, with the involvement of the media.
Transmission method Transmission of knowledge and skills is taking place on the basis of traditional Usto-Shogird (“Master-Apprentice”) learning method and/or within formal educational programme in specialized educational establishments, hobby groups in centers of culture.
