Description Information about the gardening in Central Asia can be found in ancient Greek, Chinese and Roman sources which were written in the 1st millennium of BC. Central Asia is the motherland of many fruits. Through the centuries on the basis of the people’s selection productive sorts of such fruits as apricot, apple, pear, nut, almonds, pomegranate and grapes were created. Majority of them in terms of quality have their own unique place in the world collection. More than 20 sorts of fruits and berries are cultivated in our republic. Seeded fruit trees, pome fruit trees, subtropical plants and berries took the main place. Autumn sorts of apple, pear and grape autumn and winter sorts have economical significance. From time immemorial viticulture was developed in Tashkent and Samarkand regions and in Fergana valley. On the basis of all successes are the knowledge and skills of gardening accumulated for centuries, the secrets of which are passed on from generation to generation.
Social and cultural significance In Uzbekistan, in the field of horticulture, a lot of work has recently been carried out on intensification and optimization, foreign experience is boldly adopted, scientific and practical research is being conducted. For example, experiments are being conducted to reproduce seedlings of dwarf and semi-dwarf fruit trees. The main plus of them is that, they begin to bear fruit already in the first year, they give crops every season, with them it is much easier and more economical to carry out processing, cutting and so on, not to mention directly collecting fruits. Also, for several years, agronomists have been actively working to solve the problem of developing intensive horticulture in regions with difficult soil and climatic conditions. Another important stage in the development of intensive horticulture was crowned with success - scientists in practice proved the possibility of cultivating dwarf varieties of fruit trees at home. By the way, this applies to tropical crops as well. In ordinary garden pots, in which indoor palms usually grow, you can grow apples, apricots, plums, cherries, lemons, tangerines and much more. Of course, in room conditions, "dwarfs" are not so much a means of earnings as an element of aesthetics, nevertheless, with proper care from one such tree per season, you can collect, say, from five to eight kilograms of apples or pears. Thus, knowledge and skills related to horticulture are enriched.
