It is a technique to make a Tarai boat, or a wash basin boat. Tarai boat had been used for seashore fishing or inland-water fishing in several places in Japan. Nowadays, however, the Ogi peninsula area of Sado City, Niigata prefecture is the only place that actively uses Tarai boat for fishing, and that transmits its producing techniques. 01: Riding on a Tarai boat is one of the biggest tourist attractions in this area nowadays
