[2024 Timor-Leste] Preserving Traditional Knowledge of Uma Lulik and Its Cultural Sites
| Description | Connecting the past to current and future generations of Uma Lulik in Timor-Leste is the story of Timorese Lia Nain (Old Man) who performs rituals and ceremonies at Uma Lulik and its cultural site. Lia Nain from Uma Lulik Maununo Sakoko (MS) tells the story about Uma Lulik MS which is the keeping place of heirlooms to MS clans and the venue for rituals and ceremonies. Uma Lulik MS is a physical object in the form of simple geometry, built with local materials and with less decoration. Its cultural site features Uma Lulik, an altar with Ai-Toos (hardwood) pointing to Ramaleu peak symbolizing the connection between man and man, man with nature, and man with the spirits of God. | ||
