| Description | Jana Karaliya is a mobile cultural organisation that uses a collapsible theatre and travels through districts with its theatre group. It provides the area with a cultural hub during its stay, using drama and theatre, with other art forms for social harmony. It implements human development activities using drama and theatre at the grass root level as well as the higher level of the society. Its mission is to develop a culturally and spiritually awakened society enabling it to live in peace and harmony and also make the Sri Lankan society a sensitive, creative, wise, active and a just one. USING FOLK TRADITIONS FOR DEVELOPING INTEGRATED TRADITIONS
It is imperative that the material development of a country be linked with cultural development. Such cultural development should pave the way to develop an integral citizen with knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes enabling him or her to appreciate and honor others’ traditions and beliefs. If not, material development and the connected technology will create an inhumane and disoriented person bent on disruption. A rejuvenated man from contemporary cultural decadence will be created through proper educational methods, righteous religious philosophy, true mass media application, and appropriate arts and cultural practices and applications. Janakaraliya drama and theater arts program primarily supports the development of a proper education system and application of arts and cultural practices.

ICH NGOs in South Asia
Bridging ICH communities and governments, NGOs play an integral role in networking and implementing projects to safeguard ICH. The importance of NGOs in ICH safeguarding has been emphasized in the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. In this issue of the ICH Courier, we present three profiles of ICH NGOs working to safeguard ICH in the South Asian sub-region.
