The National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic for UNESCO was established on December 31, 2011 and operates as a main liaison body between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and UNESCO. The implementation of UNESCO’s 2003 Convention is one of the key priorities of the National Commission, since the living heritage is rooted in the lives and identity of the Kyrgyz people. The National Commission fosters closer cooperation between all stakeholders to implement the Convention and promotes the inter-sectoral approach for the safeguarding, transmission and promotion of the ICH.
