II. Activity descriptions
1. Developing a database of cultural heritages that have been submitted to UNESCO by Viet Nam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies to be successfullyinscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.(To be carried out: From September 2020 to May 2021). The elements include:The Space of Gong Culture in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam, Quan Họ Bắc Ninh Folk Songs, The Gióng Festival of Phù Đổng and Sóc Temples; The Worship of Hùng Kings in Phú Thọ; Ví and Giặm Folk Songs of Nghệ Tĩnh; Tugging Rituals and Games; The Viet Belief in Mother Goddesses of the Three Realms.
Key activities:
1.1. Digitizing data from Betacam, DVCam tapes:
+ Processingmaterial: cleaningmouldymaterial tapes, converting information from Betacam, DVCam tapes with timecode in error into new Betacam, DVCam tapes (new Betacam tapes with correct time code allow encoding).
+ Converting ananalogsignal intoa digital file: (evaluate, classify, copy data to store themby storage facilities, converting data structure, developingspecification of data structure...).
1.2. Developing a database to share information of the seven ICH of elements.
+ Developing a database of academic films on intangible cultural heritages successfully inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
+ Developinga database of ICH photos.
+ Researching and collecting materialto developdescriptions of the elements.
2.Developing anew databaseof typical festivals/rituals/arts of Viet Namto share information onInternational information and Networking Centerfor intangible cultural heritage in the Asia-Pacific region. (To be carried out: From November 2020 to December 2021). The elements include:Xẩm singing in Ninh Bình Province;New rice festival of the La Chí ethnic group, Hà GiangProvince;Drum Dance Festival of the Giáy ethnic group, Hà Giang Province; Trần ThươngTemple Festival, Hà Nam Province; Trống quân singing, Liêm Thuận Commune, Thanh Liêm District, Hà Nam Province.
Key activities:
+ Collaborate with local communities and practitioners to conduct typicalfestivals/rituals/arts to develop a new databaseofthe intangible cultural heritage.
+ Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies will focus on researching into the core issues of ICH to convey accurate information on the basis of UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
+ Technical staffs of Cultural Heritage Data Center under Viet Nam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies will be in charge of filming, editing, taking photos and recording new material to develop a technically standarddatabaseto satisfy the proposed requirements of the project.
+ Organizing an event to introduce IchLinks in March 2021 at Viet Nam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies.
